Years ago, during the blizzard of 1996, my dad’s now deceased dog, who was smaller than the accumulated snow outside, confused about where he was to urinate amidst all that white, did his business against the only vertical structure he could find with ease… MY LEG. And so Fated Souls was born. It started as a short story about a werewolf peeing on his human mate’s leg in an attempt to mark her as his, inspired by that unfortunate business above, and grew into my first full length romantic novel. Which led to Fated Hearts , its not-quite-a-sequel counterpart. In Souls , the suspense is secondary to the paranormal romance. In Hearts , the opposite is true. Both books take place in my fictional Trappers’ Cove; and the couple from Book #1 play an important part in the plot of Book #2, but the books stand on their own as well as they compliment the other. I had only intended Fated Souls to be a short, funny story about a werewolf 'marking' his woman. But it grew and it grew into characters I came to love. Characters I wasn't ready to say goodbye to despite their having found their own happily ever after.  Unable to shake Maggie and Aidan, or the cast of quirky townsfolk that made The Cove such a delightful place to visit, I discovered I had more stories to tell. Henley and Carter's emotional journey to love blossomed. I've never written anything as quickly as I did Fated Hearts.  However, my journey wasn't over.  Fated Desires clawed to be told but of the three it was hardest to tell. There were many re-writes, many revisions, before the book releasing Monday May 15, 2017, was ready for readers. The last - and only - time I successfully completed a NaNo challenge the manuscript later became the book now known as Fated Souls. I'm aiming to recreate that lightning in the bottle. Books, at least the ones I write, don't finish the same way they started. Fated Souls started as short story. And that' wasn't its name. That story is now a scene you can find about half way through the book. Maggie's name has always been Maggie O'Connell and she's always looked exactly as she does. Aidan has always been Aidan Gael and he's looked just like he does. Gealach didn't change either. But almost everything else about them, including the town and the cast of characters, grew as the story did. After Crimson Romance accepted the book for publication, things changed yet again. Aidan and Maggie's story got smaller and the name of the book telling their story was ultimately changed. Music plays a very big part in the telling of Maggie and Aidan's story because it's a very big part of how Maggie defines herself as person; her music even informs her wardrobe choices.
