In the Writer's Den with GARTH PETTERSEN

Image
Today we’re going back to an old favorite: In the Writer’s Den. And we’ve got Tirgearr Publishing debut author, Garth Pettersen, in the proverbial hot seat. His upcoming release, The Swan’s Road , is historical fiction set in the 11 th century. I think they tortured people back then. Right? In the eleventh century, Cnute, the Viking king of Engla-lond and Scandinavia, sails with his son, Harald, and his shield brothers to Rome. Thrown off course by a storm, they follow the route up the Rhine. When Harald hangs back to assist Selia, a beautiful Frisian woman, his path turns perilous. Newfound enemies, retainers of Robert the Devil, Duke of Normandy, pursue them. Harald, Selia, and their companions fail to rendezvous with King Cnute, and are forced to travel cross-country on horseback. If Duke Robert's plan to assassinate Cnute succeeds, an invasion of Engla-lond will follow. Can Harald and Selia reach Rome in time to warn the King? Now that we’ve got that square...

In the Writer's Den with NANCY WEEKS

Image
It’s been a while since I’ve had anyone in the Writer’s Den and can’t think of a better person to break the fast with than Nancy C. Weeks. If you remember, loyal readers, I’ve had the honor and privilege of reading and reviewing all of Nancy’s Shadow series in the past. And she’s here today to tell us a little bit about herself and some about the first in her new series, The Eyewitness . I’m going to boast a little and say I got an advanced preview of the first few chapters before the staff at Crimson Romance did which only served to whet my appetite for this book. And when I got the full review copy I did a naked happy dance. Only kidding. I wasn’t naked. But I did dance and then I inhaled the book in one sitting. There’s a lot of information in today’s post so I’m going to wait a week, maybe two, before posting my review. But in a nutshell ~ LOVED IT! And turning the spotlight on Nancy - what is your favorite word? Love! I write romance because I believe in ...

Back in the Writer's Den with WINTER AUSTIN

Image
Welcome back Winter! We’ve done this a few different times, a few different ways, including letting me interview characters from your books. I feel as though we’ve probably exhausted most of the more serious questions and are both due for a little silly. Before we get started, I’d just like to say that, in my opinion, your work gets better with each book and to date, Sins of the Father [which I’ve already had the privilege of reading ☺] is far and away your best outing yet. I totally love Xavier.   And look forward to seeing him as a returning, supporting character in later books. Cause you’re not done this series yet. Right? Read on past Winter’s interview for a blurb and my snapshot review of Sins of the Father , a McIntire County romantic suspense. With that out of the way, let’s get to it! If you were a flower, what kind would you be and why? Well, I asked my husband what he thought, and he said the corpse flower. Needless to say he got whacked f...

Today in the Writer's Den - Winter Austin

Image
March is finally upon us. March is always an exciting month for me. I look forward to warmer weather, Lent, beer, ham and cabbage, and Irish potatoes. This year I can add a couple very exciting book releases to my personal March madness, not the least of which was written by my hostage in the Writer’s Den today: Romantic suspense author Winter Austin! Winter perpetually answers the question: "were you born in the winter?" with a flat "nope." Having recently changed her address back near her hometown, she has stepped into the chaotic world of a full-time wife, mom, author, coach, and employee. With her ability to verbally spin a vivid and detailed story, Winter has translated that into writing deadly romantic thrillers. Combining her love of all things rural, agricultural, and military, she's turned her small town life upside down. And we thank her for it. I love her books. And she knows it - which is why I got an advanced copy of Born to Die after onl...

Today in the Writer's Den - Lola Karns

Image
Good day, people. Today in the Writer’s Den we have romance author Lola Karns! Lola is the author of the books Lucky Traveler , Bad Traveler and Winter Fairy . That seems fitting since she moved careers and states, including Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, New Jersey, Georgia, and Virginia, before settling on Minnesota and discovered writing fit the bill. She makes her home with her husband, two children, two hairless cats and a fluffy ex-stray cat. When not writing, she enjoys baking, reading and drinking coffee. Lola, welcome and let’s get right down to it - w hat is your favorite word? LK: My kids have busted me for overuse of the word “apparently” but my favorite word is schadenfreude. If I can work it into a conversation, I will. See how I did that? Is someone doesn’t know what schadenfreude is and has to run to a dictionary to look it up, I will take a moment of delight as they suffer through their search. I’m also fond of haberdashery.   What is your least fa...
